INTERCESSORS FOR ZION

Intercessors for Zion is the prayer arm of the Zion Foundation.

Psalm 122: 6 says "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem". Christians are exhorted to pray for Jerusalem, not through political prayers, but with an understanding that true peace comes only through the Prince of Peace: Yeshua the Messiah.

"Israel appears in the news every day, with difficult situations of human need and conflicting political views."

From terrorism to political negotiations.

How then can we pray for the peace of Jerusalem?

  • Pray for God's peace to come to the hearts of Israelis, both Jew and Arab, and also Palestinian- that many will turn their eyes and hearts to the Prince of Peace.
  • Pray for Jewish and Arab believers in Yeshua to model the reconciliation and friendship that only God can give.
  • Pray for a revelation of the truth of God's salvation for the religious Jewish community as they study the Torah, God's Word.
  • Pray for protection upon Israeli citizens from terrorist attacks and bombings. Also for continued wisdom and alertness to Israeli security officers who find and prevent up to 50 attempted suicide attacks in Israel each month.
  • Pray for comfort and healing of those who have suffered in recent terrorist activity, both physically and through emotional shock and trauma.
  • Pray for a breaking of the spirit of anti-Semetism wherever it is found, in the media, in politics, in education and even in the Church.
  • Pray for wisdom to see through media bias to the real story and the real facts.
  • Pray for a new wave of revelation in the Church world-wide of God's plan and love for Israel.
  • Pray for thousands of intercessors for Israel to be raised up as "watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem".
  • Pray for God to strengthen the Messianic Jewish believers in Israel and cause them to prosper and rise to positions of influence within Israeli society.
  • Pray for continued aliyah (immigration) of Jewish families from all over the world in fulfilment of Scripture to bring His people home to Zion.
  • Pray for the assimilation of new immigrants in Israel, especially the new wave of 20,000 new Ethiopian immigrants (Falash Mura), promised over the current period till 2007.
  • Pray for those Israeli citizens from Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip who have suffered tremendous trauma and heartache over the Government's decision to remove them from their homes for the sake of "peace".
  • Pray for Israel's Prime Minister, Mr Ehud Olmert, and his dealings with the Palestinian Authority and world leaders, and the enormous pressure behind critical decisions made on the "peace process" regarding Israel's borders and security.
  • Pray for the effectiveness and protection of Zion Foundation personnel who work in Israel.

Ethiopian Jewish Focus

The Israel government is struggling over the difficult political decision to bring the remaining Falasha Mura (Ethiopian Jews) to Israel. The Falash Mura (Jews who converted to Christianity in times of duress about one hundred years ago) will join the 120,000 Ethiopian Jews already in Israel. The Falashan Jews (or "Beita Israel" as they prefer to be called) were brought here in secret airlifts in 1984 and 1991. But the fate of the Falash Mura has sparked heated debate for years. They claim they were forced to convert to Christianity in the 19th century, but secretly remained faithful to Judaism. Still today, their identity is problematic as they observe Jewish practices but also embrace Christian symbols. Critics charge that some Falash Mura are imposters, hoping to escape poverty stricken Ethiopia for a better life in modern Israel. However this suffering people, of Jewish backgrounds, wait to join family and relatives in Israel and claim their right to live in the Jewish homeland.

Urgent prayer is needed to see remaining Ethiopian Jews released by the Israeli government to come to Israel.
